Private Practice Community Building Brunch

This group is for prelicensed or newly licensed therapists in a private practice setting.  In a casual setting, we discuss, brainstorm and support each other around all the experiences around running a private practice, including marketing, administrative details, transitioning from an agency setting and more.  We share personal goals and celebrate successes.

The next brunch will be held on Saturday, March 16 at noon-3pm.  Please email me at karenyeh@karenyehsf.com to rsvp and for location details!

SF Bay Area DBT Listserv and Google Group

Welcome to a new Google Group forum and listserv for local DBT providers.  This group will allow us to stay in contact with fellow DBT therapists in the area, including:

  • introducing ourselves to fellow DBT therapists in the bay area (it's a very small community and it would be nice to have a way of keeping in touch)

  • sharing local resources, such as any local trainings and talks that might be a supplement to our DBT work

  • support for each other if you are going through the grueling process to be certified by Behavioral Tech

  • knowing each other well enough to give solid referrals when needed

As DBT therapists, we make sure we have awesome support, between our own teams and the extended team (via dbt-l@pdbti.org and other DBT communities).  This forum is a happy medium for us to connect outside our own teams about local issues and referrals.

DBT Overview for Clinicians

If you have wondered what it would mean to refer your client to a DBT Skills Group but are unsure what DBT looks like, this is the program for you!  We will also go over some DBT assumptions and interventions that may help you understand the DBT approach.

COURSE INFORMATION
DBT Overview for Clinicians:
DBT structural overview and how to integrate knowledge about DBT into your work

Location: 870 Market Street, Suite 986, San Francisco
Note: Feel free to email me to receive email notices when future dates are scheduled.

Detailed Description

Intro to DBT is a short (2-hour) lecture on an overview of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as an orientation.  This lecture includes a brief history of DBT, the underlying theories and the core skills that DBT clinicians teach to clients.  This course is NOT a substitute for training to implement DBT into your work.  I will, however, cover the different ways to find trainings and become certified if it seems interesting.
